Anton Glamb on Rad Collector

JZ over at Rad Collector decided to show some love with a write up about Anton Glamb’s new DJ Mix, Love Work Play. Check out the article

Anton Glamb – Love Work Play

Radical Outing is proud to present founding member Anton Glamb’s first DJ mix in 9 years, Love Work Play. Available for free on Soundcloud or separated into tracks as a zip download.

Hawaii born and bred DJ Anton Glamb has made a name for himself in the Brooklyn and New York City underground electronic dance music scene for his original sound in music as well as his party crushing skills behind the DJ booth. His original music and remixes have been featured as picks by the blogosphere as well as The Gothamist, Village Voice, NPR, and The NY Post. Co-founder of NYC’s infamous music collective Radical Outing, Glamb’s Love Work Play is a concept mix, that departs from the wordplay and politics behind his solo work and original tunes and showcases his stance as a DJ.

Love Work Play is a celebration of a secular trinity of worldly success and happiness as well as a divine prescription for healthy balance in a hectic world. Sweet vocal tunes embody Love’s heartfelt leaps and bounds while mechanical techno pulses and hip-hop lyrics carve echoes of the necessity of Work in 21st century society. Cheerful disco boogie and swelter dance with heavy electro breakdowns and builds to outline a hopscotch path through Play, a decade deep in the new millennium. Thematic styles overlap and blend through filter sweeps and loops that not only show off Glamb’s master of the craft, but a light-hearted sweetness of soul that seems to be missing in a lot of electronic music to date.

The cover is done in collaboration with East Village based artist and designer, Arden Fanning. String, feather, bead, glitter, pen and digital noise interact to create something simple, yet complexly yearning to be touched. Like the mix, the cover combines symbolic elements of Love bracelets, fashion design Work and glitter Play in a textural collage that is cohesively whole and speaks to the heart, body and mind.

KILLING TIME VOL. VIII \\ ELEVATED LEVELS by Skitsnygg

Senator Klein Says Album Art “Dumb and Offensive”-Poll Results Disagree

Senator Jeff Klein says, “Comparing the tragic events of 9-11 to our efforts to keep Four Loko and other high-alcohol, super-sweetened, alcopops out of the hands of minors is equal parts dumb and offensive. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, it is in extremely poor taste to use an attack on our country that killed more than 3,000 New Yorkers as a parody. Frankly, I think this artist owes an apology to the families of those who lost their lives on that day.”

However “dumb and offensive” the album art may be, it appears that 85% of New York Daily News’ readers can at least see some truth behind the imagery. Poll results show that 72% of readers think that the bans on Four Loko are in fact an attack on our freedom and way of life, and that Americans should be able to choose what they want to drink. Another 13% don’t feel that it’s an attack on our freedom, but feel that the drink should still be sold in stores despite it being disgusting. Only 15% of readers think that the bans are justified and are absolutely not an attack on our freedom.

Perhaps Senator Klein should apologize to the 72% of New Yorkers that feel they have been inadvertently stripped of their freedom in his crusade against alcopops.

Glamb says, “My heart goes out to all of those who lost their lives and loved ones in the horrific attacks of 9/11. We must not forget these events and should be vigilant against those who seek to undermine our freedom and way of life for their own political agendas.”

Anton Glamb/Never Forget on Gothamist

Radical Outing’s Never Forget EP has been featured on Gothamist’s website. They say “If you’re so inclined, you can download Glamb’s surprisingly well-produced album (it sounds a little like Chromeo!)” So, if you haven’t yet you can download the album by clicking on the cover below:

Anton Glamb/Never Forget on New York Daily News

Simone Weichselbaum from the New York Daily news thought it was an appropriate to shine a little light into the darkness that is the recent bans on Four Loko in Bodegas across New York. How many times is Four Loko going to be banned? If you haven’t heard it yet, there is no time better than now to download Radical Outing’s Never Forget: An Attack on Our Freedom and Way of Life.

She says the album “created a stir” and quotes Anton Glamb on his feelings about the beverage.
